...turn it over

…I’ve posted her once before on Facebook, but here is the rest of the story…. I’ve had the copy of the National Geographic Magazine, which had been in a box of my grandfather’s belongings. Story was that his grandmother is the woman in an article about the Friesen Islands after WWII. Last week I had a visit with my cousin Anke, her father and my grandfathers were brothers. As we were going though items, I pulled it out, she said “oh we don’t need to go over that, my father said it’s not her” … as our visit progressed we went through a photo album, I pulled out a loose picture of their grandmother, my g-g-grandmother, Johanna Roelufs Hansen 1857-1937, we looked at it with the magnifying glass ….. she’s in front of the same house as the one in the article, “oh look” there is a flower pot at her feet, same as the article, turn the photograph over, hmmm there we go, “photographer’s stamp” same name as the photo credit in the article …. Reminder … don’t close off possibilities, always always always, TURN over the photographs and check the back...
